Compensation & Benefits Specialist, onsite, Bucharest
Role Mission & Scope
The Compensation & Benefits Specialist ensures that Ezugi’s reward structures, salary frameworks, and benefits programs are competitive, fair, and aligned with company strategy. The role combines technical expertise in compensation systems with people-centered initiatives that improve engagement, performance, and organizational fairness.
This position requires both analytical skills (data, benchmarking, salary ranges, budgeting) and interpersonal skills (communication, employee engagement, internal consulting). It also involves ad-hoc contributions to cross-functional projects where HR expertise is needed, making it a key “connector” role inside the company.
Key Responsibilities
Compensation Strategy & Salary Structures
Design, implement, and update compensation policies to ensure internal fairness and external competitiveness.
Conduct job evaluations using recognized methodologies (e.g., Mercer) and integrate new positions into the structure.
Maintain and update salary ranges, ensuring alignment with market benchmarks and business strategy.
Manage annual salary review cycles: salary increases, promotions, adjustments, and equity checks.
Collaborate with managers to ensure consistency and transparency in compensation decisions.
Benefits Programs Management
Administer existing benefits (medical insurance, meal tickets, gym discounts, flexible working arrangements).
Research, propose, and implement improvements to employee well-being programs.
Manage relationships with benefit providers, including negotiation of contracts and renewals.
Monitor benefit utilization and prepare reports on effectiveness and employee satisfaction.
Performance, Appraisals & Budgeting
Act as the process owner for annual appraisal cycles and performance evaluations.
Support business leaders in linking performance outcomes to compensation decisions.
Drive budgeting exercises: salary budgets, benefits budgets, and compensation forecasts.
Partner with Finance to align headcount and payroll planning with business goals.
Data, Reporting & Analytics
Collect, analyze, and report compensation and benefits data.
Create actionable insights through dashboards and presentations for HR leadership and management.
Monitor compensation trends in the Romanian and European markets, providing recommendations.
Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of compensation data in HRIS and reporting systems.
Employee Engagement & Internal Communication
Act as point of contact for employee questions on salaries, benefits, and total rewards.
Draft and deliver internal communications about changes in benefits, salary reviews, or engagement campaigns.
Support employer branding by ensuring benefits are well understood and valued.
Address concerns with patience, professionalism, and empathy.
Cross-Functional Projects & Ad-hoc Support
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Legal on projects involving compliance, audits, or organizational changes.
Provide input for job descriptions, org charts, and workforce planning exercises.
Step in where needed to “connect the dots” between different teams (e.g., Business Analysts, HR projects).
Support recruitment and onboarding by preparing offer letters and ensuring alignment with salary bands.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with Romanian labor law, tax legislation, and internal HR policies.
Maintain integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive compensation data.
Act as a guardian of fairness and transparency in all compensation-related matters.
Required Qualifications & Experience
3–5 years of experience in compensation & benefits, preferably in multinational or tech environments.
Knowledge of Romanian salary taxation, labor law basics, and benefits administration.
Experience with job evaluation methodologies (e.g., Mercer) and market benchmarking.
Advanced Excel skills; proficiency with HRIS systems, Jira, Slack, and MS Office.
Strong analytical and reporting skills.
Excellent English (C1) – written and spoken.
